Having two business in Fairhaven, Dr. Amber is also on the board for the Fairhaven Association, and loves promoting this unique neighborhood and all of its small businesses.

Care Team

AMBER MACHIN, MD, FAAP

Carly is a board-certified physician assistant with a passion for pediatrics and the great outdoors. Originally from Western New York, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Daemen University in Buffalo. After completing PA school, Carly dove into neurosurgery for two years before realizing her heart was with the younger generation. This led her to the Adirondack Mountains, where she worked in Student Health, and eventually to Yakima, WA, where she spent two years practicing outpatient pediatrics.

Her clinical interests include lifestyle medicine and fostering healthy habits in her patients. Carly is thrilled to join Dr. Machin and Marc at Fairhaven Pediatrics and looks forward to getting to know the wonderful families in the community.

When she’s not caring for little ones, you can find Carly outdoors—hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and exploring all that Bellingham’s natural beauty has to offer. She's excited to call this special place home and can't wait to serve the families of Fairhaven Pediatrics!

CARLY DOMES, PA-C

Marc Wetzel, M.Ed., CNA.

As Pediatric Certified Nursing Assistant, Marc’s passions have united: working with children, evidence-based nursing care, and science. Some say his new nursing career is light-years distant from his 32 years as astronomy educator in Texas. But in 2021, Marc listened to his heart and moved to his mother’s hometown, Bellingham, Washington, to follow his dream. But while successful as a Caregiver in Memory Care, then as CNA in a Skilled Nursing Facility, he wasn’t utilizing one of his greatest gifts, relating to children. Serving at Fairhaven Pediatrics is a supernova-sized dream come true. He’s privileged to assist Dr. Machin, and honored to watch every child grow.

Previously, Marc lived in the Davis Mountains of west Texas, far from city lights, at the University of Texas McDonald Observatory. He developed and led STEAM based astronomy education programs for the general public, K-12 students, summer teacher workshops, and for the National Park Service. He completed his M.Ed. with honors in 2017 from Sul Ross State University.

Marc can be found swimming a mile in Bellingham Bay, listening to whales. He lives one block from Fairhaven Pediatrics with Her Highness Princess Chloe, a 13-year old Chihuahua-Jack Russell, and 5 beautiful, very spoiled parakeets that fly freely all day. But most importantly, Marc’s two adult sons moved to Bellingham soon after he did, and are flourishing; both an immense source of pride for him.
